The Nigeria Police Force in a statement released today has summoned the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Senators Dino Melaye and Ben Bruce to appear before the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit on Monday, October 8th, 2018 for investigations.
The statement which was signed by the force public relations officer, Jimoh Moshood stated that the senators were captured on camera to have been involved in the disturbance of public peace and unlawful blockage of the Shehu Shagari way for several hours thereby preventing motorists and other road users from accessing the highway causing innocent people to scamper for safety.
He also noted that the senators led unruly and violent protesters who are alleged to be members of the PDP to the force headquarters in a bid to gain access to the premises to destroy police equipments and government properties.
However, Despite the provocation by the thugs and miscreants who were chanting war songs, a team of police officers led by a Senior Police Officer employed the use of minimal force to disperse the protesters.
The senators were also said to have assaulted policemen posted to the scene, pushing them forcefully hoping to gain entrance into the force headquarters.
