OGBORU DEFEATS OCHEI AND 2 OTHERS TO EMERGE APC FLAGBEARER IN DELTA

Chief Ovedje Ogboru has clinched the ticket of the All Progressive Congress, APC in a keenly contested primary election held in the Federal College Of Education, Asaba.

Ogboru a five-time contestant for the Delta State governorship garnered a total of  3292 delegate votes in the just concluded indirect primary as approved by the National Working Committee of the party.

The contestants included a former speaker of the Delta State House Of Assembly,Victor OCHEI who had 160 votes, Professor and former presidential candidate, Pat Utomi scored 26 votes and Dr Cairo Ojougboh 12 votes in a bid to fly the party's ticket for  the 2019 general election.

The primary election which lasted from Sunday 30th through 1st October saw the people's general as he is fondly called get the ticket as announced by the returning officer General Lawrence Onoja in the presence of election observers and security agents, with congratulatory messages and APC chant songs renting the air from supporters.

Reacting to his emergence as the flagbearer,  Ogboru thanked the delegates for voting him to represent the party and also commended them for their peaceful conduct throughout the exercise.



He also called on the other aspirants to join hands with him to lead a formidable APC to the polls next year for anticipated victory.
